Even though I am in the "Twighlight" of my 20's, myself and many of my friends favorite birthday treat are funfetti cupcakes. Made by the wonderful company of Pillsbury it makes all of us feel, just a bit extra special on our big day. Is it the sprinkles baked into the enriched bleached flour and partially hydrogenated soybean oil? Or is it the overwhelming emotion of feeling that you are 5 again and the only thing missing is the Barbie Birthday Candle? Who knows? They taste good and look great! And we all know looks are the most important thing.
This fervor of excitement which I thought was only reserved for my birthday, was ignited once again in aisle 10 of Target. Otherwise known as "Target Market." Side note, I don't know if Target can really call it a market because it offers milk, eggs and two types of bread in 1% of the space. While the other 99% is packed with 89 types of chips, 32 cookie brands and 103 boxes/bags of candy. Well, while perusing aisle 10, helping Connie, my grandmother buy chocolates for Thanksgiving, my eyes nearly popped out of my head as my eyes landed on Pillsbury's Holiday Funfetti Cake Mix and Frosting set. Trust me I squealed with delight as I threw them into Connie's cart. Plus at Target, they are uber cheap...FUNFETTI CUPCAKES AND FROSTING FOR $3.23. It even trumped my initial steal of Wham's Christmas CD that I found for $5 in Target's "Media Center."
Needless to say, I baked them yesterday morning for a Thanksgiving treat. While the green frosting with mounds of sprinkles was not a hit for the over 40 crowd, it swept the chocolate and apple tart competition in the under 30 crowd. So next time you are at the grocery store, drug store or Target (before 12/25) and want a fun little surprise....look for the doughboy and the green box.

Jules, that review was so enticing . Eventhough I have never heard of these magical funfetties I think I better go pick some up. :)
