17 Kids and Counting = Great TV

I would like to personally thank TLC for giving me shows that I never knew I needed but now can’t live without. My latest favorite is 17 Kids and Counting, I believe prior to it becoming a series , it was a couple of specials called “The Duggars.” Or something like that. If you haven’t seen it, nothing I will write could ever do it justice but I will try.

Basically, the series profiles a family of 17, they need to include “counting” in the title because Jim Bob and Michelle have no intentions to ever stop procreating. All of the 17 “gifts” (that is what they call their children), have J names and they all look the same. They are attractive kids if you could take away the crimped hair, long skirts, teased bangs, matching outfits and positive attitudes. Episode favorite by far is the engagement of Joshua and Anna. Plot spoiler: they aren’t allowed to kiss until their wedding day. Enough said right? The amount of hand holding will make you want to puke. The couple, pictured above, have a website if you need something to look at while you are bored at work. For your convenience: http://www.ja20.com/ourstory.html.
The family has a website too that has inspirational bible quotes, family photos and an exclusive opportunity to join Jim Bob's pyramid scheme.

When watching the episodes I like to pick out my favorite kids and try to remember their names (it is close to impossible), make a mental list of activities I would like to do if I ever visit them (my first stop would be the Duggar Cafeteria). I also like to contemplate that if I in fact were born into the Duggar Family would I a) have enough sense to realize that something wasn’t quite right and escape or b) stick it out and try to be the best Duggar I could be, my parent's favorite, with all the other "gifts" jealous. Something for us all to think about.
